History

Sogeti is the name of origin for the first company of the Capgemini Group, founded in Grenoble, France, by Serge Kampf in 1967. The name is an acronym for “Société pour la gestion et le traitement de l’information” which, roughly translated, means ”Business Management and Information Processing Company”.

Until 1992 the companies within the Group were named Cap Gemini Sogeti subsequently followed by Cap Gemini and Cap Gemini Ernst & Young. In 2002, the Capgemini Group founded a subsidiary called Sogeti in six countries to focus on the growing local IT market, that has grown substantially since then, spreading to 15 countries. Sogeti Finland Oy was founded in January 1, 2010 and is a sister company to Capgemini Finland Oy.

The companies within the Sogeti Group are wholly owned subsidiaries of Cap Gemini S.A., listed on the Paris Stock Exchange.
